Rules and guidelines for using PromptCrush

TL;DR:

Play fair, don't cheat (we have focus detection), respect other users, and follow our anti-cheat rules. You own your prompts, we run the game. You can delete your account anytime. Game is free with optional account creation for leaderboards.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PromptCrush ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Description of Service

PromptCrush is a daily prompt engineering game where users:

Craft prompts to match target AI outputs within time limits
Compete on daily leaderboards with challenge type filtering (text and image)
Access past challenges with registered accounts
Receive AI-powered scoring based on accuracy, brevity, and speed

3. Account Types and Access

3.1 Guest Users

Can play current daily challenges (one attempt per challenge type)
Cannot publish scores to leaderboards without creating account
Cannot access past challenges
Anonymous authentication occurs only when starting challenges

3.2 Registered Users

Can play current daily challenges (one attempt per challenge type)
Can publish scores to public leaderboards
Can view leaderboards filtered by challenge type
Can access and play past daily challenges
Can view other users' submissions after completing daily challenges

4. User Conduct and Anti-Cheat Policy

4.1 Fair Play Requirements

You agree to play fairly and within the intended game mechanics. Specifically:

Focus Detection: Losing page focus during challenges immediately disqualifies the attempt
Time Limits: Challenges auto-submit after 30 seconds; attempts to circumvent timing are prohibited
Copy/Paste Restrictions: Target text cannot be copied; pasting into prompt input is blocked
One Attempt Rule: Only one attempt per challenge type per day is allowed
No External Aid: Using AI tools, collaboration, or automation during timed challenges is prohibited

4.2 Attempt Status and Integrity

Only attempts with status 'valid' can be published to leaderboards
Disqualified and timeout attempts are prevented from leaderboard posting
We reserve the right to review and remove suspicious scores

4.3 Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

Attempt to manipulate, exploit, or circumvent game mechanics
Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to play challenges
Create multiple accounts to gain additional attempts
Share or copy challenge content before daily reset
Harass, abuse, or spam other users
Submit inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content
Reverse engineer or attempt to access unauthorized areas

5. User Content and Intellectual Property

5.1 Your Content

Prompts: You retain ownership of prompts you create
Public Submission: Publishing to leaderboards grants us license to display your content publicly
Content Standards: All submitted content must comply with our community guidelines

5.2 Our Content

Daily Challenges: All challenge content, target outputs, and game mechanics are our intellectual property
AI-Generated Content: Outputs generated by our AI systems for evaluation purposes
Scoring Algorithms: Our proprietary scoring and evaluation systems

5.3 Third-Party Content

AI model outputs are generated using third-party services (OpenRouter, Replicate)
Users are responsible for ensuring their prompts comply with third-party AI service terms

6. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Account Management

7.1 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining account security
Use strong passwords and secure email access for magic link authentication
Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access

7.2 Account Termination

By You: Delete your account anytime through account settings with cascade deletion of all data
By Us: We may suspend or terminate accounts for Terms violations or illegal activity
Data Retention: Deleted accounts have all personal data permanently removed within 30 days

8. Leaderboards and Public Content

8.1 Publishing Scores

Publishing scores makes them publicly visible on leaderboards
Other users who completed the same challenge type can view your submission details
You can choose not to publish scores and play privately

8.2 Community Standards

Maintain respectful interaction with other users
Do not attempt to reverse-engineer other users' strategies unfairly
Report inappropriate content or behavior to moderators

9. Service Availability

9.1 Uptime

We strive for high availability but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
Scheduled maintenance will be announced when possible
No compensation for temporary service interruptions

9.2 Feature Changes

We may add, modify, or remove features with notice when practical
Core game mechanics changes will be communicated in advance
New challenge types or scoring updates may be introduced

10. Fees and Payment

PromptCrush is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features in the future:

We will provide clear notice before implementing any fees
Existing free features will remain available to current users
Payment terms will be clearly disclosed at time of purchase
Refund policies will be established for paid services

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

11.1 Service Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

11.2 AI-Generated Content

AI-generated outputs are not guaranteed to be accurate, appropriate, or useful
Users are responsible for evaluating AI-generated content
We are not liable for consequences of using AI-generated outputs

11.3 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PromptCrush and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

Your use of the Service
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any third-party rights
Your submitted content or prompts

13. Governing Law and Disputes

13.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where PromptCrush is operated, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13.2 Dispute Resolution

Good faith effort to resolve disputes informally before legal action
Arbitration may be required for certain disputes
Class action waivers may apply

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by:

Posting updated Terms on this page
Updating the "Last Updated" date
Email notification for registered users (for significant changes)

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. The unenforceable provision will be replaced with an enforceable provision that most closely reflects the original intent.
